Country Choice May Affect Selection
by IIE
Among the factors affecting selection, one is the ratio between the number of awards offered in a given country and the number of applications received. The competition for some countries is especially keen, and many well-qualified applicants cannot be accommodated. Therefore, if your project can be accomplished in a less competitive country, your chances for success in the competition will be enhanced by applying in the less stringent country competition. Below is a list of some countries that are less competitive than others. You could also consult the Selection Statistics (2004-2005) (.pdf) for comparative country statistics.
